I believe what composes a great team is having a good leader. Talent is a big factor but sometimes you need a good leader to bring out the best in someone and motivate others as well to deliver more than what they think they could.

I'm surprised that nobody has commented on this yet. I agree 100% that good leadership can make or break a team! I have learned the hard way that a great leader can make a bunch of "B's" do some great things. Imho, one necessary key to a great team is focus...I have been involved with different groups that will discuss items of business and get lost on some tangent that just wastes time and nothing ever gets resolved. I am sure there are tons of examples out there in each industry, but it seems that wherever you have meetings, you have "time wasters" for lack of a better name for them. So to bottom line it, the team has to be focused on what the final goal is and all have the desire to dedicate themselves to do whatever is needed to get there. There is only one way to fail, and that is to give up before you reach your ultimate goal!
